Summer's Birthday

February 7th was Summer's birthday. Considering it was also the Super Bowl we had a birthday celebration / super bowl party. The decorations were also done in accordance with the day. We wanted the Colts to win so we used their colors as our theme. Blue and white. Of course, Curtis was the only one wanting the Saints to win, which they did. Smart kid.

We had a great day. Summer was spoiled with lots of goodies.

Summer was just told a very funny joke that may not be appropriate for here. She obviously found it extremely funny.

Summer wanted meatloaf, whipped potatoes, baby carrots and french bread for her birthday dinner. She also requested peach cobbler for dessert but she insisted on making her own cake.

Summer and Inga made this really cute cake. Inga is Adriana's really sweet friend. They did a great jog. ( I think Inga did most the work. )

Boys will be Boys

The other day Christian had his friends over. The weather was cold, maybe 42 degrees out. This of course would make the pool extremely cold. So what a great idea, let's strip down and get in the water. The second they hit the water the realization of what they did hit them.

When I was standing here taking pictures of the boys I started thinking how this must look. They get out of the pool and they are in their underwear. Awkward.

Sleepover..

It was still light outside. Just a little catnap I guess.

Summer and her husband Jon live about 12 miles away. On their day off for some reason they seem to end up at our home. This has been a weekly ritual that I've come to look forward to. We usually have pizza and then it is followed with more unhealthiness....Jon's favorite, chocolate chip cookies.

Nevea

We had to say good bye to Nevea today. We have had her for almost 3 years. About 4 weeks ago she attacked Chocolate (our 7 year old lab.) They have been together from the time Nevea was a puppy. I figured it was a one time thing but she did it again and again. We separated them for a few weeks and tried to work with her a little at a time. She just wouldn't have it and attacked Chocolate again. She had to go.

What a great dog she is. We will really miss her. A wonderful family in Sacramento adopted her. I know they will love her and she will love them. Summer with Nevea.

This was our pet pig. Nevea and the pig slept side by side every night. Sometimes you couldn't tell them apart the slept so close.

We will miss you Nevea!!!

They both had a blast outside. Peyton is a male dog we named him after the quarterback. Thought it was a tough name. Now I just hear girls with that name. It is said that a male dog will play until he is old and he will do anything to please his owner. The female dogs become needy and turn into bitches. (The actual name of the female dog. )

New Years and Resolutions

Happy New Year !!!!! I have made some great resolutions this year. The one I need to work on the most is being a better mother. Patience is not one of my strong points. I get a little fussy when children aren't doing the things they should be. I just think I should have to ask once and they just mind. Right???? One of the other things on my list is going to bed earlier, after tonight of course.

We had a fun New Years Eve last night at our house. Played games, ate junk food, watched movies and of course the kids trashed the house.

This is Jeff Black with Hiram. What a great friend Jeff is. There isn't anything he wouldn't do for you. They kind of look like brothers. That could be because they use the same barber :)

Sabrina's Birthday

Yesterday was Sabrina's birthday, the day after Christmas. She turned 12. What a sweet girl she is. She has such a soft heart.

Every year Sabrina chooses to go to the mall to build a bear. True she is 12 and I wonder when she will grow out of this tradition but for now I enjoy the innocence of her choice.

A frog was her pick this time. She named her Kristen.

First you pick the animal you want then a sound box to go inside it.

They fill it with stuffing and then you are done. After the mall we took her out to lunch with Jon and Summer. We had our great friends the Murdoch's over that evening for the celebration.

Merry Christmas

We had a great Christmas. The children opened their stockings first then dug into the pile of presents. Hiram made breakfast and I cleaned up the big mess. For the past 5 years we have gone to the movies on Christmas day. The first time we went we thought maybe they would be closed because of Christmas. To our surprise they were opened and packed with people. We met Howard (Hiram's twin brother) and his family there. The movie this year was Sherlock Holmes. Entertaining.....

We didn't get up near as early this year. For some reason they all slept in.

The kids will be off for a total of 3 weeks. We have a lot of fun together but the house always seams to be in such disarray.

I think I will wait a few days before I undecorate.

Tis the Season

Christmas is in two days and there is still much to do. There are a couple of presents left to purchase and much wrapping to be done. Sometimes the hustle and bustle of it all takes over the true meaning of Christmas. Remember this time of year is about the birth of our Savior and all he has done for us. Well, it's time to put on my Mrs. Claus hat and finish my work.
